Our Classroom Rules:
We created these rules together as a class.
1. Raise a quiet hand.
2. Listen to the person talking.
3. Look at the person talking.
4. Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
5. Use manners and a friendly voice.
6. Walk in our classroom and in the hallway.
7. Follow directions the first time.
8. Always try your best.
9. Ask for help.
10. Smile!
We use a space themed card behavior system in our classroom where we all want to "Reach for the Stars". We all start the day on Ready to Launch which signals that we are Ready to Learn. If we need reminders about our behavior, we change our cards to "Alien Sighting"- Make Better Choices. If we continue to need reminders, we change our cards to "Lost in Space"-Make a Plan. We then take a 5 minute time out to calm down and refocus and discuss a plan on how to move our behavior in the right direction. If we decide that we are going to change our behavior and work hard to make better choices, then we can move our way back to Ready to Launch.
However, if we continue to have difficulties, our cards get turned to "Call Home"-Parent Contact. Mrs. Hastings will send an email, write a note home, or call our parents/guardians to tell about what happened during the day and the choices that were made that caused us to need to be changed to Call Home.
We can also turn our Ready to Launch card over to "Out of this World!" if we are making excellent choices and are going way above and beyond what is expected. It is not a bad thing to stay on Ready to Launch! When we stay on
Ready to Launch, we are following the rules and making good choices. When we turn to "Out of this World!", we have done something truly amazing!
